THE WOODS
by Harlan Coben
I wish I’d written this ...
... because it's so addictive!
This grabbed me from the very first page and wouldn't let me go until it was finished. Coben is a tremendously engaging writer, and his twisty-turny plotting is relentless. This novel interfered with my work schedule, caused me to leave chores undone, and pretty much put my life on hold until the last page was turned. Yes, it’s true that in terms of authenticity the revelations and turnabouts come rather too frequently, so that by the middle of the novel you sort of know that every single established "fact" is going to be overturned, which has the story teetering right on the edge of melodrama … but it's so engrossing and well-written that it gets away with it. Certainly, it had me immediately spending money on more Harlan Cobens, and I don’t think any author could ask for a better response than that. Very highly recommended!
