THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS
by Thomas Harris
I wish I’d written this ...
... because it made me too scared to turn out the lights!
Chilling, thrilling, and utterly enthralling, I couldn’t put it down. Harris’s writing isn’t perfect—there are a few jarring changes of viewpoint—but he has the powerful ability to peel open his characters’ psyches so that we, his readers, feel completely invested in them. Hannibal is, of course, an outstanding creation but he’s given a run for his money here by Buffalo Bill, whose twisted mind is scarily plausible. The tension crackles from beginning to end in this really unforgettable novel.

There's a killer on the loose who knows that beauty is only skin deep, and a trainee investigator who's trying to save her own hide. The only man that can help is locked in an asylum. But he's willing to put a brave face on — if it will help him escape.
